BRISTOL MALE VOICE CHOIR (Patron the Lord Mayor of Bristol)
Bristol Male Voice Choir have developed a wide-ranging repertoire over almost 50 years. They have performed in concert halls, churches, weddings and private functions, ranging from Eastern Europe, the Carnegie Hall, New York, to the Eden Project in Cornwall and Bristol’s churches and cathedrals. They sing traditional male voice favourites, songs from modern musicals, pop classics, spirituals and classical items, and they perform not only in English but also in other European languages, having toured in Poland, Germany, the USA, Canada, France and Spain. Under their Musical Director Jo Scullin and accompanist Elaine Smith the choir constantly seek to maintain high musical standards wherever they perform. Jo Scullin (MD), studied piano and singing at Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, graduating with first class honours, and receiving several awards for musical and academic achievements. Whilst at RWCMD she was invited to accompany the college's principal 'cellist in a private performance for HRH the Prince of Wales.
She is conductor of Bristol Male Voice Choir, accompanist and deputy conductor of Cardiff Arms Park Male Choir and for six years, was accompanist to the Morriston Orpheus Choir.
Jo teaches piano, recorder and theory at the Cathedral School in Llandaff and was recently awarded the Certificate of the European Piano Teachers’ Association Course with Distinction.
She has performed in several countries, at venues including Symphony Hall and Buckingham Palace, and with a diverse range of artists including Bryn Terfel, Hayley Westenra and Goldie Lookin' Chain.

Elaine Smith, G.T.C.L.,L.T.C.L. studied at Trinity College of Music, London. She has spent most of her working life in and around Bristol, working with many choirs and operatic societies. She was Musical Director of both Bristol Male Voice Choir and New Harmony Ladies Choir, before retiring from conducting and returning to the piano. Her career has taken her to several European countries, Canada and U.S.A.,and to prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall, Wigmore Hall, Carnegie Hall and Birmingham Symphony Hall.
